Downtown Cafe

We’ve moved!

We got a little too big for our britches, so… we decided to get some new britches!

The Downtown cafe has moved to a new location in order to keep up with business. For those of you familiar with the area, we’ve moved into the old City Limits building (or the Sunset if you’re an old-timer). For those of you not familiar with the area, we’re at N1430 Hwy 113–just a mile and a quarter north of the 4-corners.

The move means more than just a different building. It means we have even more to offer. For breakfast and lunch, we’re still the same Downtown Cafe you’ve grown to love. In the evenings, however, we become something more: The Northern Edge. What does this mean? First of all, it means we have a full bar. Secondly, it means we’ll be opening up every night for dinners starting soon. And finally, it means we now have room to host your wedding receptions, office parties, banquets, club meetings, or any other gathering–large or small–that you might have.

What hasn’t changed? The way we cook!

Meals like Grandma used to make

(In fact, Grandma used to be the cook here–50 years ago!)

The Downtown Cafe (”The Downtowner” to the locals) is a good, old-fashioned restaurant. Our food is made the way it should be: from scratch in our own kitchen. From the thick, juicy burgers to the savory soups, to the rich desserts, you can taste the difference. Cooking from scratch means more than just good taste, though. It means we can select our ingredients carefully for quality and substance. Because we bake almost all our items from scratch, we’ve taken the time to offer a wide selection of gluten-free baked goods, including not only breads, but waffles and pancakes, too. We’re also able to say with certainty which of our dishes are vegetarian, and which are vegan. Our meals are made from food, not preservatives and manufactured chemicals.

Closer than you think

The Downtown Cafe and Northern Edge are less than a half-hour drive from Madison, Portage, and Baraboo. That’s less time than you’ll spend waiting for a table in one of those trendy restaurants.

If you’re looking for good prices, great food, and desserts that defy description, you’ve come to the right place.

Enjoy your meal!
